Orem Owls Move to Northern Colorado
The Orem Owlz relocated to Windsor, Colo., and become the Northern Colorado Owlz. The Owlz, an Anaheim Angels affiliate, were founded in Provo in 2001. They have played at Utah Valley University since 2005 and have won four Pioneer League titles in that time.
Owlz owner Jeff Katofsky said the decision to move hinged more on his desire to build a youth baseball complex than on the league’s new structure. He said he has been wanting to build one since moving the team to Orem but has struggled to find a site and get governmental approval.
Utah Valley University’s baseball field and stadium were renamed from the Brent Brown Stadium to UCCU Ballpark in 2018 reflecting a new level of support by Utah Community Credit Union "UCCU". The renaming is part of a $5.5 million gift UCCU donated to support UVU athletics and other programs.

Professional baseball came to Utah County in 2001 as the Orem Owlz. Almost immediately, plans began to build a first-class facility for residents to enjoy. With UVU's recent jump to NCAA Division-I sports, the University was also in need of a new baseball facility. The idea of combining resources to build a ballpark soon arose. Groundbreaking for the new Brent Brown ballpark was broken March 23, 2004. The new stadium was finished in time for the Wolverines to play at home during the 2005 NCAA season. The Stadium was renamed to UCCU Ballfield in 2018.
